Dear Friends and Supporters, August 2007
I thought Texas was the hottest place but I’m sure that South
Carolina is a very close second. They say one is a dry heat and one is humid
but in my opinion heat is heat!! It makes one look for the nearest air
conditioning they can find. We have really enjoyed our stay in SC. We have
made some new friends and got to visit some old ones. We enjoyed being a
part of Northside Baptist Church’s anniversary in Una , SC. We thank them
for allowing us to make their prophet’s chamber our home base while we were
in the area. It was great to come back to a cool comfortable place after a
long HOT day!!!
One of the things I find most interesting in this ministry is the
people that we meet. We were at a senior center the other day and Butch just
happened to mention that he lived in Hazleton, PA when he was a kid. After
our program he was eating lunch and a woman setting at the same table asked
him where in Hazleton he had lived. What a coincidence when they discovered
that they actually lived right next door to each other and then to meet
nearly forty five years later in a senior center in South Carolina!! We were
in south Texas some time ago and after our church service a young woman came
up to us and told Butch that his uncle Bob used to pick her up for Sunday
School when she was little and lived in Weatherly, PA. It turned out that
she was a distant cousin of mine. What a blessing it is to meet and talk to
all the people that the Lord sees fit to bring into our lives as we cross
this country. We also have met the parents of some famous people in our
travels. All types of people end up in nursing homes and retirement homes
and need someone to come by and share the gospel and bring them some
encouragement. Praise the Lord for the opportunity to meet these folks.
From South Carolina we moved on to visit all our friends in south
Georgia. This is one of the places we went to when we first started our
ministry nearly six years ago. They welcomed our ministry with open arms!!
We have many wonderful supporting churches there and some of the best
friends that a person could have. As it is written, “ There is a friend
that is closer than a brother” – Proverbs18:24. We visited our friends at
Harmony Baptist in Blakely, Ga. They all have become treasured friends.
Please pray for Bro. Carlisle as he is in poor health. That can be very
painful. We also stopped to see the folks at Lighthouse Baptist Church in
Valdosta, Ga. We had not been there in quite a while so it was a real
blessing to see them. We had a great meeting but our time flew by much to
fast. Then on to Hickory Head Baptist in Quitman, GA. What a beautiful
country church full of the sweetest people. I could be tempted to stay a
while. But I think I will wait until winter comes!! We next visited the
Joyful Heirs at Trinity Baptist in Jacksonville, Fl. Virginia had us in
stitches with her funny stories and their chicken delight was to die for!
There I go talking about food again. Believe it or not food is a big part of
our ministry. You know most church folks can’t get together for fellowship
without some sort of food being involved. Then we came “home” to Victory
Baptist in Thomasville, Ga. This was one of our very first supporting
churches. We have been going there for six years and they have watched our
family grow up in this ministry. We were so new at this I praise the Lord
that they even invited us back the second time let alone five more. But we
have grown to love them and they treat us like family and spoil us rotten
when we are in the area. They also allow us to call their prophet’s chamber
home. Our friends Lila, Joyce, Betty and Nina always make the rounds to all
the nursing homes with us and we really appreciate their support of our
ministry.
As you can see we have many people to thank and many opportunities
to be thankful for. The Lord just continues to heap those blessings upon us.
The best place to be is not really a physical place but in the center of
God’s Will. We thank the Lord for all you wonderful folks who share
this ministry with us. We couldn’t do it without you. It is a joy to
represent you all in the nursing homes, retirement homes, and senior centers
across these grand United States!! Thank you. We love you.
